About Shelton

Welcome!

At Shelton, our mission is for families and teachers to work together in unison to prepare responsible adults that will strive for excellence and commit to serving others. Our vision is to empower future generations with a Catholic education to excel. We hope that our students contribute positively to society and in the spirit of innovation. Ultimately, we take pride in our values; human excellence, family values, and providing service to others.

Mentoring

We are proud to announce the implementation of the Mentoring Program at Shelton Academy. Our school is truly committed to offering a personalized and comprehensive education that will enable each student to achieve his/her own fullest potential. Mentoring is the way we personalize our mission; it is the way we empower each one of our students and help them with their individual needs. The ultimate goal of the program is to mold our students into responsible, happy, and loving people.

Through one-on-one friendly conversations, the mentor encourages the student to strive for academic excellence, to serve others through good deeds, and to use his/her unique personal qualities to innovatively change the world for the better.

Mentoring ensures each mentee feels understood, cared for, and positively challenged. Students participating in the program are assigned one of our own trained Shelton faculty/staff members as their personal mentor. The mentor works together with the student to set realistic, challenging goals, with the endgame of finding the right means to achieve those goals.

Spiritual Life

Education at Shelton Academy is a matter of both the mind and the soul. Religion is a subject at every grade level and the formation of our students’ Catholic identity is a priority in all of our activities. Mass is offered on several occasions throughout the year and there are regular opportunities for the Sacrament of Confession. Students are also provided many occasions to put their faith into practice through faculty and parent supervised service projects and other charitable outreaches to those in need within our community. Prayer and Catholic traditions are practiced at school, according to the liturgical calendar of the year.

Welcome from our Headmaster

Welcome to Shelton Academy! An independent Catholic school in Doral, and a truly unique place where education happens in a caring and joyful environment.

Our mission, to prepare responsible adults who strive for human excellence and service to others, drives our curricular and extracurricular efforts. Shelton’s curriculum, small class sizes, and outstanding faculty provide an environment that allows our students to excel and reach their fullest potential. To reach that goal, we work closely with the parents, the primary educators of their children.

At Shelton Academy, we are committed to offering students the finest education possible in a Catholic environment, totally faithful to the magisterium. In addition to challenging core academic subjects, religion is taught at every grade level, Holy Mass is offered on several occasions throughout the year, and there are regular opportunities for the Sacrament of Confession. We strive continually to develop the intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual well being of each individual student, and in that regard, another distinctive feature at Shelton Academy is our Program of Character Education and Mentoring Program. Our Mentoring Program is the first one of its kind in the Miami area but has a proven history of success in many other schools in the country and abroad. Mentoring seeks to assist parents in the overall education of their children; it helps each student reach his or her full potential both in academic endeavors and in character education.

The heart and soul of any great school is the teaching faculty, and Shelton Academy teachers are just the best! They are dedicated to the craft of teaching, passionate about working with children and young adults, and committed to the idea that learning is truly a collaborative endeavor. I invite you to visit us and experience the warm environment in which we support and teach our students. I think you too will see what a special place Shelton is!

Mrs. V likes spending time with family, baseball, movies, beach, pool, reading, and scrapbooking. She is passionate about education and teaching students to become caring and respectful young adults that make a positive impact in our world. She admires God and her parents who sacrificed a great deal for their family and instilled a love for family, a passion for helping others, and has given such a great example of unconditional love. Her children inspire her to be a better human, mom, teacher, wife, Christian, and friend everyday.  She believes that Shelton has the responsibility to help develop the whole child, not just academically.  She thinks the faculty is filled with compassionate, gifted and loving individuals that go above and beyond to help the students and make learning an exciting and fun process.
