Mentoring

We are proud to announce the roll out of the Mentoring Program at Shelton Academy. Our school is committed to offering a personalized and comprehensive education that enables students to unlock their fullest potential. Mentoring allows us to personalize our mission. It is the way we empower our students and the manner how we help them fulfill their individual needs. Our goal is to mold Shelton Academy students into responsible, happy, and loving individuals. Via one-on-one conversations our mentors encourage students to strive for academic excellence, to embrace service towards others, and to be able to use their personal qualities to innovatively change the world around them. Mentoring ensures that each mentee feels understood, cared for, and positively challenged. Via the help of an individually assigned Shelton faculty/staff member to act as their personal mentor. This trained faculty member works with the student to set realistic yet challenging goals that together they will be able to attain.

Spiritual Life

Education at Shelton Academy encompasses the use of the mind and soul. Religion is a required course at every grade level. The formation of our student’s Catholic identity is a priority and is ever present throughout every activity. Masses are offered on several occasions during the span of the school year as well as regular opportunities to access the Sacrament of Confession, faculty and parent supervised service projects, and various charitable outreach programs that benefit those most in need within our community. These programs and opportunities allow students to materialize their faith into practice. Note that the prayers and Catholic traditions that are practiced at Shelton Academy are in accordance with the liturgical calendar.

In order to achieve our goals, we work closely with parents who are the primary educators of their children. Additionally, we are committed to offering students the finest education possible within a Catholic environment that is faithful to the magisterium. Aside from the plethora of challenging core academic subjects, religion is ever present and is taught at every grade level. Holly Masses are offered on several occasions during the span of the school year as well as regular opportunities to access the Sacrament of Confession. At Shelton we strive to develop the intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual well-being of each student. Tied to that is our Character Education and Mentoring Program. The Mentoring Program is the first of its kind in the Miami area. The program has a proven track record with various success stories stemming from schools in the United States and abroad. Shelton Academy’s mentoring seeks to assist parents in the overall education of their child. It helps them unlock their fullest potential in an academic setting and in their general character education.
