Creating Champions for Life

Our outstanding after school sports program includes winners of national championships and expert instructors in an array of fun choices for all ages. The athletic curriculum includes the following:

• Cheerleading

• Gymnastics

• Ninja Warrior

• Soccer

• Swimming

• Synchronized Swimming

• Tennis

• Trampoline

• Tumbling

Cheerleading: The Jaguars team has been competing since the school’s inception. Its cheerleaders have attended several championships across the United States, bringing home titles such as National, Regional, and Grand Champions. Our Jaguars cheerleading family is now bigger than ever, which means that these athletes give a great show wherever they are… Go Jaguars!!!

Gymnastics: Program designed for boys and girls 5 years and older to help them learn how to develop their motor skills while improving their strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Karate: Program focused on children 5 years of age and older, helping them develop basic karate skills such as kicking, blocking, and punching. We also encourage our students to set personal goals that will help them in life.

Rhythmic Gymnastics: Program designed to give girls 5 years and older an introduction to ballet and rhythmic gymnastics using certain body movements, including floor exercises and instruction in the use of props such as ribbons, balls, hoops, clubs.

Swimming: Program designed for children 6 months and older, where through a process of familiarization with the water, the student develops survival skills such as floating, displacement, and the capacity to keep calm in any situation. Once these skills are mastered, the program focuses on refining technique. It is here where the swimmer will learn different strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, chest stroke, and butterfly, maintaining a competitive environment with the goal of turning students into athletes.

Tumbling and Trampoline: Program designed for boys and girls 5 years and older, teaching floor exercises such as cartwheels, backhand springs, flips, and front walkovers, allowing time to work on flexibility and body strength.

The relaxed studio setting and informal instructional style will give you lots of time to experiment and produce great take-home pieces. At Carlos Tirado Art Classes, we have a uniquely personalized approach. We teach in a small class format. Studio members receive one-on-one instruction. Our staff is always on hand for an in-depth lesson, last minute rescue, or help with a new form or project. It’s like a gym where you can come anytime with “personal trainers” on hand ready to help you with personalized instruction. We offer several plans for your convenience.

SHELTON ACADEMY

Working at Shelton Academy has been a rewarding challenge. After more than 15 years teaching art in this community, belonging to this family has surpassed by expectations. Its incredible installations lend themselves to the development of a wide array of creative activities. The group of people that we work with make the artistic experience richer, and the students make the most of it due to the quality of the programs and the professionalism of the people who run it. Collaborating in this school over the past four years for me has been a unique experience because of the human quality of the people, which has allowed my labor of love to go beyond the school as a plastic artist.

CARLOS TIRADO

Carlos J. Tirado was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He is an artist, painter, and sculptor who has developed a very personal and precise line of work linked to Neo-Pop art. With plenty of personal art exhibitions, Tirado has participated in numerous collective ones, receiving different awards such as “III Premio de Escultura” del Certamen Aires de Córdoba in 2004 and other recognitions, among them at the Venezuelan Embassy in DC (2005) and the X Latin Art Festival of Atlanta (2005). His inclination for the arts started from an early age. At 8 years old, he was already experimenting with tridimensional forms, creating molds out of cast lead from pieces previously gathered on the streets. These first artistic experiences led by his inquisitive nature provided the groundwork to continue exploring the possibilities with different materials like wood, waste, and plaster.

Seeking Out Success

The main goal of the academic portion of our after school program is to promote optimal learning experiences through diverse environments and activities. Our program includes:

  • After Care: a service that provides a routine and a supervised environment in which children find balance between academic activities and recreation.
  • Guided Homework: a service offered for those children who benefit from working in small groups. The teacher is responsible for guiding the child through his/her homework, and encouraging the student to stay on task to complete the day’s extended practice during this time.
  • Tutoring: a one-on-one service scheduled upon request. The teacher focuses on the individual learning needs of each student.
